Claiming 8.0 hours on (DATE) account not allowed a sufficient meal period. I was on duty at (LOCATION) on yard assignment (ASSIGNMENT) when I was instructed by (UP MANAGER or YARDMASTER) at (TIME INSTRUCTED) to observe my meal period on the locomotive. I was given an insufficient meal period which caused me to observe my meal period on the locomotive on the working lead while performing service.
